The Esther Foundation Incorporated Board Members;

Chairperson                                  Annette Latto 

Mrs Latto holds a Bachelor of Science from Murdoch University and brings a wealth of experience to the organisation’s Board of Management in many fields including compliance management and systems, policy development, industry audits and producing healthy and safe work environments. With previous management, officer and advisor roles with Boral Resources, the (then) Department of Environmental Protection and now as a Senior Compliance Officer for Chevron; Mrs Latto is welcomed to assist with our organisation’s future growth in strategic planning, structural development with management systems and also with strengthening even further the good governance of this organisation.


Managing Director                         Patricia Lavater Cit.WA

Mrs Lavater holds numerous qualifications related to the sector in human services, social, welfare, justice and youth work, and has been recognised alongside the highest local, state and national awards for her work with young women and children. Such recognition includes being named WA Citizen of the Year [Community Service], being a Western Australian Australian of the Year finalist, inducted into the International Women’s Day Hall of Fame and also as a recipient of the Pride of Australia Medal [Role Model]. Mrs Lavater first started working with young people as a teenager herself, and over many decades gained experience within the sector at many agencies and through the Juvenile Justice system. Mrs Lavater is a very strong advocate and keynote speaker for the welfare of young women and children, and was the Founder of The Esther Foundation to provide a safe, supportive and structured environment for those in need in our community.


Secretary                                    Craig Ablett BM
Mr Ablett holds a Graduate Diploma in Business, a Six Sigma qualification and is presently completing an MBA. Mr Ablett works as a business improvement consultant and trainer, and brings a depth of experience in Human Resources with previous positions including being National Human Resource Manager of Gemco Rail and State Human Resources Manager of Westrac CAT. Such experience brings a wealth of resources to not only the Board of Management, but also with the organisations strategic planning, sub-committee roles and functions, as well as improving operational policy development and processes.
Mr Ablett was the recipient of a Bravery Medal from the Queen some years ago, after pulling a young girl from a fiery car wreck as a bystander of a tragic accident.

Board Member                             Martin Jenkins

Mr Jenkins comes from a background of over 25 years in Information Technology, Business Management, Quality Management and Community Service sector work and is presently a Teacher at Australian College of Applied Education; holding University qualifications in Education.  Mr Jenkins holds extensive experience in the administration and structural management of not for profit, charitable and educational institution service delivery, as well as with policy and procedure development, bringing a wealth of experience to this organisation. Martin held the Chairman role of the Esther Foundation for more than six years until stepping down at the AGM of 2013; where he was made a Life Member of the Association.

Board Member                            Rodney Lavater 

Mr Lavater is the Cofounder of the Esther Foundation and holds an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management, a Diploma in Youth Work and has been integrally involved with administration within the charitable sector for more than a decade. Mr Lavater has many other roles in the community that include mentoring other Not for Profit CEO’s, Board’s, assisting many other organisations off the ground to deliver services in our community and managing programs that are delivered into the justice system, community and into the sector. Mr Lavater been nominated for a number of awards in the community, is a keynote speaker at many events, a guest lecturer at Universities and many other institutions and is passionate about assisting young people to reach their potential in life. 

Board Member                            Brett Ballington 

Mr Ballington is an Accountant who holds a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University, and of whom brings a great deal of experience as a business resource analyst and planner to the organisations Board of Management. Having held significant previous roles with Crown Casino and Toll Express WA, Mr Ballington is presently Oil Account Supervisor for BP Australia. Within this role, Mr Ballington’s exposure and experience of world class financial accounting, auditing, reporting and systems brings great depth to our organisation.
