Chairperson: Annette Latto BSc 

Annette Latto holds a Bachelor of Science from Murdoch University and brings a wealth of experience to the organisation’s Board of Management with over 20 years in the field of Environmental Management.  Annette is an Associate with Strategen-JBS&G Environmental Consultancy and has experience in government approvals, policy development and compliance management, within both Government and industry including Boral Resources, Chevron and BHP Nickel West.  Annette has been a member of the Board since 2015 and looks forward to continuing to contribute to good governance of the Foundation and its future growth.

Founder: Patricia Lavater Cit.WA

Patricia Lavater holds numerous qualifications related to the sector in human services, social, welfare, justice and youth work, and has been recognised alongside the highest local, state and national awards for her work with young women and children. Such recognition includes being named WA Citizen of the Year [Community Service], being a Western Australian Australian of the Year finalist, inducted into the International Women’s Day Hall of Fame and also as a recipient of the Pride of Australia Medal [Role Model]. Patricia first started working with young people as a teenager herself, and over many decades gained experience within the sector at many agencies and through the Juvenile Justice system. Patricia is a very strong advocate and keynote speaker for the welfare of young women and children, and was the Founder of The Esther Foundation to provide a safe, supportive and structured environment for those in need in our community.


Chief Executive Officer: Anina Findling GAICD

Anina Findling holds an Hons Degree in Music Therapy, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been working in various Financial Services and Management roles since 1996.  After starting to serve on NFP boards in 2011, Anina joined the Esther Foundation Board in May 2019 and was then appointed as the Executive Officer later that year.  Specialising in NFP Governance and Strategic planning, she enjoys using her background in Banking, Management, Leadership/Business development, Customer Service/Training, Music and Prayer ministry to help Churches and Charities fulfil their unique purpose in the NFP sector. Together with her husband Harry, Anina has two adult children and immigrated to Australia from Canada in 2001

Board Secretary: Sonia Newby BJuris, LLB

Sonia holds a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia. With more than 20 years legal experience in Australia and South East Asia, Sonia has worked in senior positions in both the commercial and Higher Education sectors, in a range of legal matters in real estate, banking and finance and intellectual property. Sonia is married to Jay and together they have two children. She attends Lifestreams Christian Church in Como where she has served in the Children’s ministry. Sonia has served in various capacities in her children’s schools including the office of Chair of the board of Oberthur Primary School in Bullcreek. Sonia was appointed to the Esther Foundation board in October 2019.

Board Member: (Dr) Phil Ridden GAICD

Dr Phil Ridden has been involved in education as teacher, curriculum writer and consultant, professional development consultant, deputy principal and principal, executive and non-executive member of boards. He has written a number of books and numerous articles, and received several leadership awards. 

In semi-retirement, he continues to write, consult and present; provide foster care for infants with the Department of Communities; lead worship from time to time in several congregations; and participate in the governance of several organisations. He is Deputy Chair of the Boards of Kennedy Baptist College and Mandurah Baptist College and Convenor of the Joint Governance & HR Committee, and a Director of the Hearing Research & Support Foundation. He is a member of the Trinity North Uniting Church.

Phil has a Doctorate in Education from the University of Western Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Treasurer: Lindsey Phillips CA, B.Comm (Acc) Hons, AgilePM®

Lindsey has been working as a Consultant for a number of years in various roles with extensive experience across multiple industries and countries and brings with her, deep knowledge in change, project and business process improvement, underpinned by financial and audit principles. Lindsey is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) – Perth Chapter. Lindsey is married and has two teenage children. Lindsey served in Riverview Church children’s ministry for a number of years. Lindsey was appointed to the Esther Foundation board as Treasurer in November 2019.

Board Member: (Dr) Jeroen Bruins Geology, VUA

Jeroen has a professional background in the oil and gas industry. Whilst calling Australia home for many years, he has also lived and worked in the U.K. Oman, Nigeria. Jeroen is actively involved with PeaceWise, which is a not-for-profit ministry that provides Christian solutions to conflict. Since 2013 Jeroen is the Chair of the Board of PeaceWise, which has given him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of governance, spiritual leadership and strategy.  Jeroen is an accredited Christian Conciliator.  Jeroen joined the Esther Foundation board in December, 2019

Jeroen has been married to Eva for over 40 years. They enjoy three adult children, their spouses and six grandchildren. Jeroen has been a follower of Jesus since he was 18. His passions and gifting are in the area of prayer, spiritual direction and biblical peacemaking, which caused him to be involved in a variety of ministries; including his current involvment at PeaceWise. His deepest desire is to see the Christian faith transform people’s lives.

Jeroen and Eva are actively involved in Providence City Church. The more recreational passions of Jeroen are running, cycling, hiking, bird watching and reading or just spending time with family and friends around a good meal.
