Leadership Training

Many of the young women within the program are given the opportunity to speak as Community Leaders or Youth Leaders within our community, at women's and youth conferences, functions and events.

Some of the more recent opportunities included two teenage girls, one a graduate and the other a program participant, speaking alongside Justin Langer at the Make a Difference Foundation Charity Dinner in November.

Another opportunity was given to two other program participants, a 14 year old girl and a 21 year old young mother, who were able to address the West Australian Football Commission at a breakfast recently, which included people of the calibre of Robert Wiley and Grant Dorrington, about their own journey and struggles in life.

Two program graduates were alongside Shelly Taylor-Smith recently when they were presenting a Channel Ten News story about their acheivements with the 'Choose Life' triathlon team partaking in the world record swim attempt at Cottesloe in November. Shelly swam with the girls in the swim attempt and was able to offer some very handy tips to them in short course swimming.

Five young teenage girls from the program are involved with the City of South Perth Youth Advisory Council [YAC], where they are able to input thier views and expressions toward the needs of young people in the South Perth region.

All the program participants were able to share not only scones and fruit platters, but the story of their own struggles with The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, recently when she joined the girls for morning tea at the Foundation.
